i have always used pine shavings for bedding but have heard alot of negative's about it. some people say it slowly poison's the snake. ive tried news paper but its very high maintenance which i dont mind but if pine's ok id much rather use it. ive also heard aspen is good but very high priced and when you have 10 snake that gets very pricey. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Pine is terrible for any reptiles. Too strong and sometimes will even prevent a snake from eating until starvation. I use simple potting soil and it looks great. Just make sure it's without any fertilizer. $1.38 a bag at wal-mart....

Go to the Search Box on the right and type in "Substrate". There have been dozens of posts on this subject. But stay away from pine and cedar.

I currently have 30 snakes and for all but 2 I use newspaper. For those that have higher humidity needs or are in a showcase I use cypress mulch.
I avoid pine and cedar like the plague.
