1st off yous houldn't have to have a full profile to get a simple answer to a question - the point of this place or least it hought was to help educate.
2nd -
B. g. gabonica (Duméril, Bibron & Duméril, 1854) Common Name: East African Gaboon viper
Range:Central, eastern and southern Africa.
B. g. rhinoceros (Schlegel, 1855)
Common Name: West African Gaboon viper
Range: West Africa
B. g. rhinoceros has a distinctive set of enlarged nasal scales that look like a pair of horns on its nose. This is a characteristic that it shares with a close relative, B. nascornis. However, B. nasicornis has a brighter color pattern and a narrower head.[4] B. g. gabonica has no such enlarged nasal horns, and is overall somewhat smaller than B. g. rhinoceros. Also, with B. g. gabonica, the dark triangular marking leading back from the eye towards the angle of the mouth is divided. With B. g. rhinoceros it is not.

btw just to be clear i didn;t see the don't post after an admin told them to fill out the profile till after i had already posted my answer that wasn't there when i was hitin the reply button lol.
I could realy understand that with a care question but not with somethin as simple as the diffrence but eh agian goes bk to me being weird - if its gona be a requirement then somethin should be done with the registration to the site so that a full profile is reuired before the registration is complete would realy help cut down on the lack of filled out profiles ^_^.

Arin and Al are absolutely right.
Knowing something about the person asking the question helps to give them the right answer.
Perhaps that is not as important on a "simple" question, however, most folks who ask simple questions will follow up with other questions soon after.
When dealing with potentially deadly animals, the experience level of the poster then becomes very important for the person giving an answer.
It is better to get the introductions out of the way right up front.
Hopefully, Chris will find someone who is good with computer code, who can change the website, so that people will not be able to post until the profile is filled in. Larry, Chad, etc ?????
Asking someone to fill in their Profile is not asking very much, it only takes a couple of minutes at the most. Also, if someone has a legitimate reason for not filling in the Profile (say Law Enforcement or Government), they can contact the Webmaster or one of the Site Managers for alternatives.
Lady Blood Rose, consider it this way. If a complete stranger came up to you, and started asking you questions, you would probably consider it a bit rude, and probably would question their reasons.
However, if they came up to you, and introduced themselves, and said something like, we heard that you know something about snakes, and could use some help, your reaction would be much different.
It is just Common Courtesy, however, that is unfortunatly a fairly uncommon thing these days.
And Ferenc, it is unfortunate that your answer got deleted. You are new here, and it is good to see you posting again. You probably just wanted to help answer the question. Please feel free to re-post your answer, After the original poster fills in his Profile.
I know you are a very knowledgable young herper, and we welcome you here. Translating from your native French language to English has to be a challenge.
Please do not let this discourage you from posting and answering questions at the site. Just check the Profiles of people asking questions before you answer them, and if the Profile is not filled in, please remind the person to do so before you answer them.
Best Regards John Z

Will someone please....PLEASE...fix the code already so there are no posters without profiles and so we can avoid once and for all the whiny requests to "fill out your profiles first" and all the rest of the crap that follows??? I'm trying to learn something here and enjoy my interest in venomous reptiles.
Thank you!

If folks don't want to provide an accurate profile (and I would even go so far as to say using a real name for crying out loud) then they shouldn't be allowed to post. Go to kingsnake. Participating on this website is a privelege and if you don't want to play by the rules, you shouldn't be allowed to reap the benefits of the great folks who come to this site.
