Hey, I am planning on taking a trip to Apalachicola national forest in the begining of april. I am wondering if anyone else on here has been there before. The park is VERY large and I am wondering where in that area is the best place to look for hot herps. I am planning on taking a trip to St. Vincent Island also. Has anyone ever been there before. Any hot herps on the Island. I am really hoping to see cottonmouths and eastern diamondbacks. Is there any place in paticular that you had success finding cottonmouths or eastern diamondbacks. I am not going to feild collect anything. I am just going to photograph the snakes and I plan on doing a lot of hiking along with herping. Thanks for any information you can provide:) Zack

I suggest that you get the "Florida Atlas and Gazeteer" by Delorme. www.Delorme.com They are sold all over the place, but I'm sure you can find them online. It is a book of topographical maps of the whole state. When I go down there, I use the GPS Topo Quad Software on my laptop. It's a lot of fun. I wrote an article about it on the homepage. It's the one with the photo of the Jeep. Also, there is a photo album specifically about Apalachicola. Look at the links to the left.

Hey, Thanks a lot Chris. I will definetly order that map tonight. I have read your article and it was great. I do not have a labtop right now but I think once I get the money I will buy one because that software looks very cool and useful. Thanks for all of the help, hopefully I find a lot of snakes on my trip :)
