I saved a copy of the "List of Venomous Species of the World" PDF document located in the file library here some time ago.
I recently printed the copy I had stored on my computer.
My question is.... Anyone know how up to date that listing is?
I assume the Agkistrodon complex will be invalid soon on that list.
But does anyone know if there have been any MAJOR changes that should be updated. When trying to explain one snakes relation to another to people, I frequently use that list.
I havent really seen anything that looked dramtically inncorrect based on changing scientific titles, but honestly havent looked at that list in quite some time now.
I am sure that most of you here, hear about the most recent genetic studies and reclassifications alot sooner than me.
The list was compiled by "sierra".
Who here is "sierra" ???
Just curious.
Take Care.

John, any list will always be out of date. The one you are talking about is out of date, but is still usefull.
Even the ITIS database, which is considered the "standard" that many folks use, is always 4 or 5 years out of date, while they wait for peer review studies to be published.
All you can do, is remind folks that the subject is always changing, due to new research and studies.
As far as Sierra, she was a long time member here.
She was a very knowledgable reptile keeper and an excellent writer. Like many others, she no longer posts at this site. Over 10 years, a site will have lots of folks come and go. Some go to start their own websites. Others leave for different reasons.
The nice thing, is that the old posts from folks like her are still archived at this site. With a bit of searching, there are lots of treasures to be found.

Shame, that obviously took a great deal of effort to setup the taxonomy like that and still make it printable, and useful in a binder for easy reference like that.
I am aware that no toxonomy listing can be relied on fully. I guess the question is, has anyone noticed any MAJOR outdated arrangements that I could change on my personal copy?
Take Care.

Yep.
The changes are there.
What I do is go to Dr. Wolfgang Wuster's site, and download all of his pdf. articles, and base what animals will be named in the future on that.
He posts at this site at CAISSACA.
And his website is at:
http://www.bangor.ac.uk/~bss166/
Much of what will be the future is available now at his site. So, if you update from that, you are most likely to get the correct names for the future.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards John Z
