I am a new hot handler and whould to ask this...............
I have a artifiticial MITRAL VALVE in my heart, If bitten, would the results be to the valve?
Is there any known data known on the effects of venom on a Artifitial Heart Valve?

The CORRECT answer is that the doctor who installed the heart valve is the most knowledgeable person to answer this question! He/She knows more about the actual parameters of the valve than any venom researcher will.
I would be willing to bet that no research has been done in this field at all. It breaks down as follows:
People who keep snakes vs people who don't = miniscule fraction
People who keep venomous vs people who keep snakes = miniscule fraction
People who keep venomous snakes with artificial heart valves vs people who keep venomous snakes = miniscule fraction
Good Luck with your search for a definitive answer but my money is on there are not enough people in the target group to make allocating research funds a viable option.

I agree with Buzztail1. There would be no better source than the doctors. When you ask, remember to think long term effects as wellas immeditate. Also inform the doc as what you are or are planning to keep.

to everyone ansering this question, this is my friend that has the heart valve,not me. but we can not find a dr. that knows heart valves, and venom. we are hoping someone might see this and know. Thank all of you for your help. Spanky
