An antihistamine such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl) can help to limit the progression of the allergic reactions, but in the case of Anaphaylactic shock your best bet would be to keep an epinephrine injection or epi-pin. this drug couteracts the effects of severe allergic reactions. never inject directly into a vein, but into fat. If you are to give yourself the injections, be sure you understand what to do. This medicine is sensitive to light. Store it in a dark, cool place in its original container. Do not refrigerate. From time to time, check the liquid to see if it has discolored. Do not use any medicine that is discolored or cloudy. Talk with your doctor and tell him/her your concern. you will need a prescription for this anyway. let your doctor know why you want it and he/she could help you put together an emergency kit with epi-pins and antihistamine tablets. these emergency kits are a good idea. I would recomend talking with your doctor, and not buying them from someone who gets them in case of bee stings. The reason being is epinephrine has side effects and if you are on medication, or are diabetic, or a number of other things, the side effects could be more severe. I'm sure your doctor will know more than me. Good luck and stay safe.

Hi Spanky
you've first of all have got to determin wether the individual is having an Allergic reaction or a Anaphylactic reaction the latter is the most SERIUOS of the 2.Allergic reaction is normaly topical, you'll may have a rise in skin temprature of the affected area,welts/hives(looks like the little lump after you've been bitten by a mosquito)which can be very itchy, these may spread over the affected area and across the body(normaly torso)generally feeling unwell, nauseas, hot&cold flushes etc.
Anaphylactic shock/crisis is far more severe and is life threatening situation that can appear within seconds. You can ONLY have this type of reaction if you've been exposed to the foriegn body once before. The blood pressure will fall so rapidly and so far that it could be un readable and the patient will collapse in a unconciuos state, also with the blood pressure being so low you most probably won't be able to find a pulse appart from on the neck(carotid)but this could be faint/hard to find or not there at all.Due to this massive pooling of the blood in the body your going to see swelling accor especially around the face ie massivly swollen lips, tounge, face and neck(this is caused by plasma leaving the blood vessels and entering the tissue).Your airways in the lungs are going to tighten up so you'll sound and feel like an asthmatic(run on the spot for 5 minutes then breath through a straw)Your upper airways (throat-adams apple)are going to be compramised by the swelling previously mentioned.Your heart rate is going to go sky high(trying to compinsate the loss of blood presure and lack of oxygen)and skin rash/welts.YOU CAN NOT treat this your self this is a dire emergency that requires ambulance and hospital treatment. The epi pen is a good thing to have and if your lucky you should be able to administer this before you collapse,I doubt very much that you'll be able to take any medication oraly(via mouth)when a anaphylactic shock/crisis happens.
I could go on for ever but with my one finger typing skill of maybe 3 words a minute lifes to short.I hope this has helped some what!In the article section on this web site is a "article on Reactions/Anaphylactic shock.
regards with a blister on my finger

Thank all of you for helped me with this advice, But could you tell me one more thing.? I do not have any trouble taking the shots, but if I were bit, would I still go in to shock again. I know all bites are diffrent, but as far as my chances of going into shock.? (I did take Chris's advice,) and got a (EPINEPHRINE AUTO-INJECTOR) from my Doctor. Any help with this would be graetful. Many thanks Spanky. ("NOTE" This is not ment to tell anyone how to inject snake venom. And I do not recommend this for anyone.)
