I wanted to take a quick moment to ramble on about the Mighty Midget tongs as designed, built and sold by Randal Berry. I am going to assume that these were born from the need for a smaller set of tongs for the tiny venomous snakes that Randal propagates (Bothrops, protobothrops et al)
I have seen these at the show a number of times but finally have been putting them in to action. I have been nothing but pleased all the way!
Although I prefer hooks for snakes, there are the notoriously slippery ones like the small fer-de-lance, corals and others that just refuse to ride the hook. These tongs are perfect for this application. The jaws are wide enough to not pinch the animal and the trigger is sensitive enough to allow the handler to apply just enough pressure.
I picked up two pair a week ago and am ready to order four more. Keep in mind, these are not for bigger animals, but for the neonates and yearlings (and the corals) is a great tool for the trade.
Great job Randal! I highly recommend them, and they are super affordable too! Here they are in action:

Take care and stay safe folks!

I'll second Doug's observations - we have found many uses for Randal's tongs and they really take a beating but are still holding up well. Nice job.

I very much agree with the posts. These tongs have been in the hands of reputable herpers for a while and have been proven to be effective and hardy.
I've seen them and have sold them at many of Randal's shows. They're rock solid and are the perfect tool for the job of working in cage, moving small cage furniture around, working with small runny animals, etc. I've provided the link to Randal's website below if anyone is interested in them.

Please note that due to them being able to produce more of them in the recent past due to increased demand they now more affordable. At the last show that I was at I believe that they're now around $65. Keep your eyes open as I know that Randal produces great equipment and soon his products will be even more available than ever.
