Im thinking about breeding my southern copperheads but have questions regarding the cool down period. When do i start it? What temps should i keep them at? And how long does it last?. Any other information would be nice as well, you can never know to much.

Mike, some of us here in the south are allready pulling animals from brumation and pairing them up for breeding. Most of those animals started brumation back in late October, or in November.
However, you are in Canada, so I think you still have a window of opportunity. I assume that the copperheads have been kept at normal temperatures and have been feeding up to this point ?
You could wait until they eliminate the last meal they ate, and then cool them to the 48 to 54 degrees F. for about a month, and then warm them back up. That very likely will be enough to stimulate breeding. Make sure they have water to drink while they are cooled down.
In the future I would start the brumation in November, and keep them cool until about March. But, go ahead and give the month cooling a go. Many people have had success with short cooling times like that.
Best Regards

Mike, a 3 year old copperhead is usually just reaching breeding age / size.
Some will produce small litters of young at that age, and some are just not old enough / large enough yet.
Give it a try. If they do not produce young this year, most likely they will be large / old enough next year.
Best Regards
