I have seen several HUGE duskies before but the westerns and Carolina pigmys seem to stay significantly smaller. Does anyone know what the record lenghts are for those?

I have seen several HUGE Duskys as well, one in particular I photographed but did not catch had to be a yard long if it was an inch! The maximum "recorded" length is 30.5 inches held by that extremely obese captive rasied individual that passed some time ago. Most captive Duskys that are fed mice get big and fat in a hurry, but the populations I come across in the wild are primarily frog and lizard eaters and have a much more "trim" look but do get quite long as well given a good reliable food supply.I checked some books to see if I could come up with some max. sizes for the other two subspeices but could not find any.If I was to guess I would say that the Carolina pygmy averages close in size to the Dusky, with the Western being the smallest of the three. If you would like to see a picture of that HUGE Dusky Pygmy I photographed, let me know and I'll post it or send you a copy.

Please do, I have a strecki that is about 20 in and he is the biggest one I have seen as far as westerns. I am sure I have seen duskies at least 30 in in length. My other western is much smaller as most of the westerns that I have seen.
