Those smelly Aussie's have no right reclassifying our snakes!
Wait a minute! If you make one more post like this one on this forum, it will be your last. Many of us on this site respect the Aussies contribution to the science of herpetology, save one, who is the topic of this post and is truly a detriment to the science.
I for one have many friends from Australia and I'm really offended by your post. I won't delete it because it is a good example of home grown stupidity.

This Hoser guy is a real piece of work. Wikipedia says:
"In 2009, Hoser founded his own journal, the Australasian Journal of Herpetology. As of 11 March 2009, in addition to being the journal's founder, Hoser is the journal's editor and the only author to contribute papers to it. In the journal's 6th issue, Hoser published a paper reclassifying the rattlesnakes into 9 genera and 11 subgenera."
Also: "Hoser is an advocate of venomoid snakes, surgically altered to remove venom, and has published discussion on this topic, and promoted the procedure on his website. These animals are kept as pets, or used in exhibitions to the general public, and the procedure is regarded as a controversial. A 2008 government tribunal ruled that Hoser's venomoid snakes cannot be handled by members of the public, due to the risk of the venom glands regrowing."
It is amazing to me that the CNAH would send out this information, without a word about who this clown is.

I apologize for my broad spectrum comment. It was meant to be directed towards the author, not all Australian Herpetologists. He is probably an embarrassment to Australian Herpetology, at least that is my opinion from reading some of his work. I did not like Hoser when I met him. I found him extremely arrogant, not to mention his lack of hygiene.

CNAH arguably had to distribute this as a few taxonomic stances they are responsible for are as equally as valid (meant to be read as not really valid)as this garbage by poser...I mean hoser. In other words they can't very well look down upon this work and seriously support their own.
Ahhh taxonomy...such chaos and turmoil over arbitrary human assignment... ;)
