I currently maintain 1.1 insane juvenile N. nigricollis. These snakes are little hoses....literally. And they are dead on accurate. Lean down to the glass and then stand back and take a look at where the venom hit the glass in relation to your eyes. Every time mine do it, it's a very accurate thin spray right across where both of my eyes would have been. All this from snakes that are still only 2' or less. They are very active, and have insane feeding responces. They are one of the hotter African spitters, so you don't want to take a hit from one. Eye protection is a must. Also keep in mind these are the largest spitting cobras on the planet. The bigger ones can reach lengths of 7' or more. That's huge for any cobra, much less one that can expell seemingly unending amounts of venom. Mine are pretty good about handling. They ride a hook decently. They are also not very aggressive when not in feeding mode, and when outside of the cage are pretty uninclined to hood or spit. Overall though, after working with these guys and with a couple different Asian spitters (N. sumatrana, N. siamensis) I'd say these guys are a bit higher on the danger scale than the Asians. Just be careful, and use your head. And if this is Spanky (not sure, but seemed like it by the way the post was typed and labeled), getting bitten by one of these is NOT like getting bitten by a native hot. You think your ordeal with the EDB was bad, let one of these bad boys nail you ;) Anyway, be careful, whatever you do.
