There is little difference between an outright ban, and laws that make it virtually impossible to own something. If you cannot afford, or find, the ridiculous liability insurance(most insurance companies won't sell you ANY policy if they find out you've got a "pit bull", let alone millions of dollars worth of liability insurance specifically to cover the possible damage done by the animal), or be able to comply with the fencing requirements, it might as well be illegal to have that animal, since you will still have to get rid of it, and that usually means having it killed. MOST BSL is not in the form of outright bans, but stringent fencing requirements, liability insurance, mandatory spay/neuter, muzzling of any dogs taken off-property IF they're allowed off the owner's property at all, and prohibitions of selling, buying, breeding, giving away and otherwise changing ownership of the types of dogs involved. The bottom line is the the results are the same as a complete ban-the eventual extinction of the animals in question in captivity, and in this case, the extinction, PERIOD. It just takes a bit longer. Most laws, while not bans, make it impossible for most people to meet the requirements to be able to keep their dogs, so they have no choice but to have their dogs killed; I won't even use the term "euthanize", here, since that means a "mercy killing", killing an animal to end its suffering, when it's too sick or too badly injured to help.
It serves absolutely no purpose to continue to point out, "Animal B kills more people than Animal A, MY animal, but no one is going after Animal B. They're picking on Animal A instead when they need to focus on Animal B!" Truth is, ALL the animals in the United States are far, far less of a safety risk than many non-living things that most of us have in our own homes. Your own information, Tigers, shows that more people die from falling off of chairs or falling down steps/stairs than are killed by ANY type of animal. In the same week as the python attack in FL, FOUR children in South Carolina alone drowned in backyard swimming pools, and the following week, three MORE people, two of which were adults, drowned in ONE pool while apparently trying to save each other. That's seven people in a one-week period, in one state-how many politicians do you suppose have backyard swimming pools? PLEASE stop trying to make a case against banning one type of animal, by claiming that another type of animal isn't getting enough negative attention from the media and the politicians! I have both exotics, including large constrictors, and I have American Pit Bulls, and I've been fighting for both for years, and I KNOW, from first-hand experience, just how bad the public opinion is against both. Unless you're in that position, that of owning large snakes or other animals deemed "exotic" AND owning American Pit Bull Terriers or any other "pit bull-type", there's simply no way to fully understand just how far the negative perception of those dogs, as compared to that of "exotics", actually goes. Even now, after this incident in Florida, if I tell a mixed group of people that I own large snakes, their responses are more of curiosity than anything else, but if I mention to that same group that I have a Pit Bull, I can guarantee at least one of them will cuss me out and threaten me and my dogs and tell me what a horrible person I am for having such an awful killer, but the "Us" and "Them" attitude won't save our animals, will it? We've got a member on the Pet Law Yahoo Group who wants to ban all large "exotics" AND "the bigger dogs", or require everyone who has one of those animals to have to pass a government-run series of tests to prove you can handle them but she doesn't want anyone going after HER choice of animals, small "exotic" cats. We've got people on Arachnoboards.com who want to be able to keep their scorpions and tarantulas, but don't think that I should be able to keep a Retic OR a Pit Bull...and Wayne Pacelle is loving every minute of it, rest assured. Divide and Conquer-this is why they're winning, and we're not.

Pitbull lady, I will make this short, had a LOOONg day outside in triple digit temps.
Anyway, seem like we have different definition, when I say BAN, it is ban, even if you r willing to buy insurance, doesn’t matter, ban is ban, black and white, cant have it under any condition unless u r AZA of course.(insert sarcasm)
Insurance requirements is EXTREME legislation, but not true ban, might be really de facto ban for many who can not afford it, but I don’t label that ban, just BullShit legislation.
To avoid confusion, I think I should start saying large exotic mammals, instead of exotic animals, as yeah, other than 4 inch turtles, reptiles really haven’t been under federal attack or widespread proposed state bans until now, large mammals have been targeted for many years now.
Large exotic and wild mammals as cats have been banned in many states, banned, whether u have insurance or not. Has been happening over 10-15 years now, divide and conquers, it works, I have been screaming HSU$ is AR over 10 years, but nobody seems to F*&^^g listen until is too late.
REXANO produced Yt video “We the Animals: Legalize the Constitution” in November 2007, before 2009 Tea parties became the latest fad

almost nobody was watching.
Just tired of animal politics, divisiveness, and apathy among animal owners.
