TCA: Animal Planet Gets Investigative
Orders investigative journalism series, pet training series ‘Superfetch'
Following the success of its Michael Vick and "puppy mill" specials, Animal Planet is starting a quarterly investigative journalism franchise, Animal Planet Investigates.
The series will explore in depth topics such as slaughterhouses, cloning, dog fighting, the exotic animal trade and animal testing, among other topics.
"With the new Investigates strand, we're giving Animal Planet an opportunity to bring forth hard-hitting topics," said Rick Holzman, senior vice president of programming and scheduling for Animal Planet. "We're looking forward to a productive and creative collaboration with some of the best production houses and journalists in the business."
The network also ordered Superfetch, which will have pet trainer Zak George helping owners train their pets how to do wacky or unexpected tricks.
"Superfetch is a different type of training show because these pets don't need to be "fixed"; they are perfect just as they are," says Marjorie Kaplan, general manager and president of Animal Planet Media. "Zak takes their energy and love of play and uses it to his advantage to teach them and their parents tricks that are often amusing, surprising and, frankly, just awesome."

Dog fighting slaughter houses animal testing used in the same line as exotic animal trade.hmmm.I would bet my entire collection that this show will only focus on the negative side of the exotic issue. They will not visit any python breeders in the us or other proper facilities .Animal planet has become a animal rights propaganda podium. It would be nice to have some shows about the people who spend there life careing for and breeding these creatures with in the community .Oh well I think I will go eat a steak.

What I find odd is that when exotics are mentioned, they usually refer to tigers, and such as well as the pythons now. I can even remember years ago hearing on the news about a New York fire fighter getting bit by a rhino or gaboon viper he kept as a pet, yet I don't remember any calls for the U.S. Govt to ban them. That was years ago so feel free to correct me on it if I am wrong. As for Animal Planet, I never cared for them. They are very political in there presentation of any grope who exploit animals in any fashion positive or negative. They just lump them all together in one bunch. The best thing to do is just change the channel.

Maybe they should start by investigating the folks they are in bed with like HSUS and PETA. Remember that saying about throwing rocks at glass houses...
I do not watch animal planet.
