Sorry to keep asking but from your last response I can't quite figure out if thats all you know or all you can share without breaching someones' trust.
The papers have the symptoms ranging from numbness in his right arm, neck and right side of his face all the way to full paralysis on his right side. Many other conflicting details as well.
I'm not trying to push your buttons I was simply hoping you could give us some real insight instead of relying on the newspapers.

He said he had tingling, numbness, ptosis (drooping eyelids) paralysis (in his face and down the right side of his body), and difficulty breathing. The media screwed up facts that were given to them as clear as day.
For the record, a licensed Florida Venomous keeper can own any snake EXCEPT for Sea Kraits and Sea Snakes.

Folks...what is the problem understanding the facts of this incident? It's all laid out, very clear very consise.
1) The comcast worker was bitten by a "green snake" with a yellow bottom. Two fang marks were observed.
2) The bite symptoms were consistant with a Green Mamba bite, which the fellow identified from a photo. Ernie from Venom1 administers the SAMIR, the symptoms diminish. I won't entertain the notion the symptomology was psycosymatic. Besides, if you guess wrong in the case you have a DEAD cable worker which is far worse than having a bitten cable worker.
Not to difficult to understand. The professionals involved do this sort of thing for a living, they see lots of bite, many unidentified, WHY, since you were not even present, are you second-guessing what occured and how they responded?
The facts are plain: Someones Eastern Green Mamba is on the loose in the area, it was seen again today. The venomous community takes a big hit for someones neglegence. People need stop playing arm chair hepetologists and trust what is being said when it comes from MDFRV1. I know the players well, they are giving you the facts, so stop being nit pickers. They are on OUR SIDE!!
(Joe) That GM looks sweet, nice to have the real deal for the press.

The bite comes a few weeks or so after a cry for public help because their funding is being cut... (I'm sure many of you got the same email as I did a few weeks back)
"Jillson, said the reduction in man power would affect how future snake bite victims are treated.
``If the proposed cuts do come, it will significantly reduce our ability to do what we do,'' Jillson said."
I guess this bite in one way or another MIGHT help their cause to keep them funded. It sure looks like they are using this situation (bite) to boost their cause. I hope it works out for them!

The problem understanding the incident is there was no clear and concise information unless you are suggesting we put our faith in the media reports.
They clearly misquoted people and attributed statements from one individual to another. Far from being clear and concise.
Today Joe shared some actual first hand information which helps satisfy my doubts.
I appreciate his input and have no doubts regarding the truth of his statements. The same could not be said for the media reports.
Just out of curiosity are you an armchair herpetologist or is that title reserved for us ignorant individuals who questioned the media accounts?

Ditto. That statement was out line.Yes this is uncalled for, imagine questioning the media. What sick form of human garbage we are to question are serious fact serving media what kind of propaganda are we sending out.My GOD,these hard working people who give there lives to make sure we see only the truth and all the times they have saved us from the lies. These people who seek nothing but our and this hobbys well being with there complete lack of self serving or selfless ideas. The idea of diss belief is beyond belief. Why such an intolerable action could go on I can not imagine.I know now that financial gain could never allow any thing to get in the way of the truth, spoon fed to us each and every day.I for one will no longer let doubt cloud my vision of the future that has been so selflessly provided for me.No longer will I sit in my arm chair and cast accusations or question the undeniable .Please all accept my most humble apology ,and know it shall never happen again.........Archie bottoms

Joe,
I wasn't being sarcastic. Getting this guy touching and learning about the snake he claims bit him is a stroke of genious, regardless of what the realities are regarding the situation. I could not have thought up a better PR response. The comments from him about Venom One are priceless (almost too serving if one was paranoid).

Still not convinced I hate to say.Could be true, but still has a lot of holes.
Also,I was talking to a friend about this..How many snake bites have ever happened while snake was in a tree not being harrassed?I was always told that snakes don't attack people and they are afraid of us and would flee first!Could you imagine!?ha
Also Joe,the one vial and 1 hour in the hospital comment came from the original post..so I do apologize if that was false

It is great to see some well thought out and planned news that show things in a positive light for a change.
Before that, the news wires were all over the place. But, that is typical these days. Most of the time, you can not trust anything said in a news paper or on TV as being accurate.
Good job Joe, and the folks at Venom 1. !
Hopefully, the report will help more folks support the Miami Dade Venom 1 program and keep them from being cut back on funding.
It is also good to hear that the snake has been spotted again. Hopefully, it will stay in that area and be captured. That would put to rest the speculation about the identification once and for all.
Then all folks will have to be concerned about is who was the nitwhit keeping the snake, that let it get out?
And, if that nitwhit is keeping other illegal snakes, that would also cause problems if they also got out.
I would consider the houses in the immediate area to be suspect, LOL. After all, just how far do a escaped mamba travel ?
Best Regards
John Z

"I was always told that snakes don't attack people and they are afraid of us and would flee first!"
Generally that's accurate, but trust me, you don't want to surprise a mamba. If you scare one, a bite is it's only defense. If he said he was just standing there and the snake came down and bit him I'd have a hard time believing it, but that's not what he said. He probably accidentally put his arm right in front of, if not on, the snake.
