I've read that this begins as early as January and culminates in nest building behavior around April, but that it varies by region. Given how vast the region is, that's a lot of potential variation. Anyone here know more specifics--say, when breeding season is in the Western Ghats as opposed to the Thai/Cambodia border or the Indonesian archipelago?
Also, I've heard it said that O. hannah would eventually be carved up into 6 or so distinct species. Anyone heard anything about this?
Lastly, anyone know where/why the hamadryad sobriquet got applied to this species?
Thanks!

Another plea: anyone able to answer the above question (or even just give me an idea as to color phases of Kings?) I've seen the whole gamut as, I'm sure, have most of you. I gather that darker environs generally boast darker bodied snakes, but can anyone make a specific statement as to dark brown or yellow or olivine bodied Kings splitting up along regional lines?
Part of this is just curiosity, but part of it's practical as I'm gonna be on the Cambodia/Thai border in January. I'll be looking for a number of things, not all herps and certainly not just elusive Kings, but to better my chances--slim to begin with, I know--I'd love to know what color to train my eyes to look out for.
I've waded through a bunch of the scientific refs off of bibliomania herp search to answer these q's, but coming up blank. Can anyone refer me to an article, or maybe a Chimaira or Kruger type publication?? Thanks!
