Now that you're finished lying Tristan how about telling us who you really are. Obviously you aren't 9 years old. Heck I don't have many 11th graders I teach who type as eloquently as you sometimes do. So are you here to just get a rise out of people, or have you been here under a different name and are trying to lay low, or what? If you have an honest curiosity about snakes and other reptiles then at least have the decency to be honest with us about yourself.

cut the kid a break.... he basically already appologized for his previous posts...obviously the kid likes reptiles and wants to learn about them so let him ask questions and get answers from the experts...its better for him to learn from the members of this site than to try to learn everything by himself like many people here probably did...as long as he is asking legitimate questions dont put him down...

I apologize if my post was construed as derogatory, it certainly was not intended that way. I was simply stating my opinion, one that many other people here have already shared in much less of a congenial fashion. If he truly is who he says he is then I will personally be surprised. I honestly hope it's a legitimate attempt to learn more about venomous snakes rather than trying to play with people. I suppose time will tell.

Chance, I think Tristan is exactly who he says he is.
I checked out the websites that he has created, and they match his age quite well.
Looks like we have a talented young fellow who is a real reptile / venomous animal enthusiast.
Hopefully, we will be able to answer some of his questions here.
Best Regards
John Z

I have been a member of his site for awhile and I just forgot. He is a talented young man with a true love of snakes like most of us only one difference he is much smarter than most of us.Give this kid a break and teach him in teaching we may learn something ourselves.

Just weighing in to add a little perspective.
When I started public school back in the early 60's, I could already read because I had taught myself to read snake books.
Never underestimate the power of passion.
Neither of my parents really liked snakes but my Mom was more than little tolerant. They were more than surprised that I could read the books that were available back then and identify snakes at a very early age.
Tristan has apologized both publicly and privately and has corrected his profile.
He has asked several questions that to many adults may seem trivial.
As he has said in each of his questions, either someone has told him incorrect information or he has read incorrect information and he has been asking for validation and correct information here.
We have seen in some other recent threads what happens when people grow up without learning the truth about snakes. They chop up Brown Snakes and feel manly for saving the planet!
So please, take a moment, realize that we all had to learn the vast wealth of herp knowledge that we take for granted from someone womewhere and go on to share that with the younger folks that come here to learn.
I, for one, am happy that Tristan has decided to stay with us in a more truthful and outgoing manner.

Doug put it perfectly. Carl Kauffeld's "Snakes: The Keeper and the Kept" probably did more to fuel my desire to be a herpetologist than any other book. And when I saw a pic of a corn snake Carl captured in the field, I had a mission to own a corn snake. Back then, the Corn Snake may have well been a Feas Viper - they were considered extremely "exotic" back in the day. When I finally got one, it was magical and even to this day, when I see a corn snake, it reminds me of where I came from and the reason why I am a professional herpetologist today. If I could only keep a corn snake, I'd be the happiest guy on earth...thankfully, I get to keep many more than that!

I completely agree with what you guys are saying about having such a passion for animals starting at a young age. I would argue that probably the vast majority of us started in that same way; I definitely did. I know I was not able to keep even a single snake until I no longer lived with my mom. She let me keep a number of different animals but no matter what, I couldn't have a snake.
The passion and interest in snakes is not in question.
The only thing I was pointing out is his writing skills suggest he is a good deal older than 9. If he is that good of a writer at 9 then that is great! I can't recall having ever met a 9 year old who was that eloquent, hence my suspicion that he's still not quite being on the up and up. Lord knows we've had our fair share of crazy folks on this forum.
And Archie, I guess I need to change my tune! I definitely wouldn't want anyone to assume I was a repub!! Hah!
