Has anyone used this stuff before? Its like a natural antibiotic for reptiles. Im thinking about getting it and putting in feeders like the website says as an immune system booster, but looking for other input as ZI have never heard of this until today. Apparently there is no side effects from using this stuff.
This is the website:
www.reptaid.com

Sounds rather fishy to me.
Great marketing scam. perhaps..
Of course, I don't know for sure, and have never heard of the product until now.
Also, being "natural", the nutrients contained in this product are nothing that do not occur naturally in the animals food. Or, a variety of food(s).
It seems to me that, snake keepers in general try to hard to get their animals to eat ONE food item, and identify all feeding with that particular prey item.
Most of my animals get an at least somewhat varied diet. Mice, rats, chicks, African soft-furred rodents, frogs, toads, etc..
And, for some my animals that would naturally feed on other reptiles, they DO occasionally get a lizard or two to eat !
And, most still readily take rodents.. Snakes in general can be picky captive eaters.
My point is that, it is overlooked, and I do believe in as natural a diet as can be provided. I haven't experienced difficulty feeding various food items, and actually enticing them to eat, that could be attributed to their varied diets.
Nothing that sits on the shelf in a bottle is remotely as natural in keeping ones animals diets and nutrition varied. (Also would appear to be MUCH more expensive in large quantities, than simply altering a diet).
Also, this product is for..."reptiles"..
The nutritional needs of say, a Green Iguana, are going to be MUCH different than those of a Puff Adder !
Sounds like a marketing scam.
However, if you do end up using the product, do be sure to let us know of the results.
Take Care,
-John Mendrola.

If you are feeding rodent eating snakes, I wouldn't worry too much about vitamins since they get all they need from the whole animal.
I have been known to add some calcium tablets to f/t rodents being fed to gravid snakes though.

Ok well based on these comments I guess I will not be using this product. Yes the website does look good but hell thats advertising. It probably is made for Iguanas or Beardies but was looking for input if someone used it their snakes. I feed rodents and rabbits and pigs so thats prob good enough.
Thanks
Rob
