Found this on a cryptozoology site, one which seems very anti-"exotic"/pro-AR, since they love to post sensationalistic stories of giant pythons and alleged "tigers" spotted around the US. Read the comments from the "expert" who says that he doesn't even believe that Gaboon Vipers are legal anywhere in the US and can only be obtained through the black market!

In the warden's defense, I don't see where he claims to be an expert, and says he "doesn't know" if they are legal in the U.S.
Frankly, I think the article itself is fairly reasonable given the apparent facts. Though I would like to know how they determined that the snake was released alive rather than being dumped after if died in captivity.
