Outdoor/Feral cats outclass large snakes greatly in being both an "Invasive Species and Injurious Species"
and yet I don't hear anything about them being regulated.
And they spread way beyond the range of the Everglades which is the restricted range for large snakes!

In reading through what Zuzana has posted, it seems there is an additional month that comments might be made against the Federal python ban.
This statement from the USFWS would suggest a bit of hope:
"We are not required to list the nine species together as a group. For this proposed rule, we evaluated each of the nine species individually, and we will list only those species that we determine, through the final evaluation, to be injurious."
So folks, there is your opportunity. As I have said all along, we should have given them the Burmese python, and let it be the "bad guy" they are looking for. However, you now have a very limited opportunity to keep some of the 9 proposed animals off the list, if you can argue that they are not injurious.
That might be accomplished if those animals exist only in small numbers in collections, that would be unlikely to ever be large enough to establish breeding populations, or, if the animals stay a relatively small size.
You might have saved the boa constrictor, if that nit-wit did not let his pet boa kill him last month.
Eventually, some form of this bill will pass, as they badly want to expand the powers of the Lacey Act. However, you folks in USARK and who raise some of these snakes do have a less than a month to make your case to try to salvage some of the 9 listed bad guy animals.
And, you venomous folks, who do not keep large constrictors should pitch in and try to help also, as the way the law is written, once it passes, it will be very easy for them to add venomous snakes to it in the future. It will give the USFWS the ability to add animals without much review at all.
So, take advantage of this final chance folks. Go to the USARK website and Rexano website and follow the links and make your voice known. This is very likely your very last chance to make a difference.
Best Regards
John Z
