Hi All,
I'd just like to share with everybody a couple of videos of testings of various Hexarmour gloves by British herpetologist, Luke Yeomans filmed at an IHS gathering several years ago, and some more recent tests.
As you can see in this video, the very popular (however dangerous) Midwest Yellow gloves are tested, and penetrated by a venomoid Monocle Cobra, if this snake had been fully functional, a serious envenomation would have occured without doubt.
The others, resisted penetration.

Now, if you watch the video carefully, you will notice the pair that Luke prefere's to use himself. These are a reletively new brand of Hexarmour on the market, these are called 'Venom Defender Gloves' and thus far. they have not failed a test. They have been tested with fully loaded venomous snakes ranging from large King Cobras, to other small Viperids, and Gila Monsters and have not penetrated during a test. Tests have been carried out on numerous individual gloves of the same brand. Here are a few video's.

More information and articles on the gloves can be found at http://www.kingcobrasanctuary.com If you search articles, there will be articles there in every month category, and you can contact Luke there for more details on these gloves.
I, in no way reccomend that ANYBODY attempts these methods theirself, or, uses these gloves as an "appropiate" way of hangling snakes. I am also in no way trying to sell people these gloves, I recieve no credit or finance for this, I am doing it off of my own back as I feel it is an important issue that needs publicising to venomous keepers. I would like everybody to form their own opinions on the gloves, and also see that those Yellow gloves from Midwest may be dangerous - I've seen very popular YouTube personalities with those Yellow gloves, too.
Thanks very much.
James.

I see people useing gloves on rare ocasions, but in all reality they should never be used. It is in no way justified, and should never be incouraged.

Agreed, gloves should be a last resort in case of an accident as a precuationary measure. I knew the midwest gloves were not the best but for the bite to go through that easily? I will say, I am impressed by the other gloves. But again they should be used as a last ditch method instead of a daily handeling tool.
Great Stuff, Thanks, Eric V

It all depends on the handler.
If one wants to use gloves on a regular occasion, they can do what they feel's right, in my opinion.
The only thing that is concerning, is, that it can lead to folks becoming complacent, and a bite occuring where the gloves end...
