I'm just learning, so hopefully someone can clear up a couple of things for me.
I've seen the Fer-de-lance referred to as Bothrops Asper AND Bothrops Atrox. Which one is correct?
Also, maybe I misunderstood what he was saying, but I could have SWORE that I heard Steve Irwin say that Colubrid meant no fangs and non-venomous but I thought there was such a thing as venomous Colubrids.

Fer-de-Lance is a name used for several different snakes in various locales. This is why you will see a lot of people refer to snakes using either both the common & scientific names, or scientific only.
Yes, there are venomous colubrids, some of which have killed people. Dangerous opisthoglyphous colubrids include Dipholidus & Thelotornis, two African snakes that were not considered dangerous until they killed someone.
