I don't currently keep venomous, but I've been thinking of getting a false water cobra and have even gone as far as to consider a cobra. I was wondering what is involved with the removal of venom glands in a snake, how much is it, where to look for vets, how effective is the opperation and anything else involved. Thanks again fo the info.
Scott.

Many of us do not agree with making venomoids. Jeff Miller wrote an excellent article about the procedure and the address to that article is attached below.
As to where to find a vet to do it or how much it costs? I can't help you there. If you absolutely HAVE TO HAVE a venomoid, then I would recommend watching the classifieds and get one of the animals making the rounds. Every so many months there are several venomoid cobras changing hands as if the owners did not want to hang onto them for too long. Wonder why that is!
