Many of the forum members are probably familiar with the Ocean Pond campground in Osceola NF, Baker Co. Fl. I thought this might be of interest to forum members, especially with respect to the toxicity of canebrake bites. My thoughts are with the bite victim and his family.

Story about dropping the cell phone, getting bitten by the snake while retrieving the phone, then carrying the snake back to camp sounds a bit suspicious.
Makes me wonder if the guy saw the snake, thought it would be cool to take back to camp to show off, then got nailed when he picked it up.

Be interesting to see if there are any pictures of the snake on the cell phone. I have seen too many people holding them out taking pictures clueless as to how close they really are to the animal.
My guess is he was taking the picture and got tagged then dropped the phone.
