Many have seen this, if not, get ready to cringe:

I could not even fathom using my daughter to prove a point as dangerous as this! What a disgusting display of idiocy.

Even if it was a completely harmless species, I would never put my kid through something like that to satisfy my own ego... let alone with an Australian elapid!
What an idiot.

I think that Dr. BGF said it best, on facebook.. This whack-job not only needs his amimals taken away, but should also lose custody of his daughter.
Just when you thik Hoser can't get any more "out there", something like this makes the media..

Not cool at all. I read this a few days ago and was speechless and to a point I still am. Seriously, I agree "Jail Time" and send the child to a family member. Just because the snakes don't have Venom doesn't mean the bite doesn't hurt the child plus the Physiological Effects this may have caused the kid. I wouldn't want to be bit buy my non-venomous snakes and damn sure wouldn't want to be my dad's guinea pig so to speak!

An interesting cause for concern arises with venomoid elapids over viperids. If the venom gland managed to regenerate and repair itself in a venomoid rattlesnake, chances are the person would instantly know something was wrong the moment he or she was bitten. "Rattlesnake venom burns like hell," as one wise man observed.
On the other hand, many elapid bites can be virtually painless and almost unnoticeable until rather alarming symptoms like respiratory failure or cardiac arrest set in. Hence, a person who was envenomed by a supposedly venomoid elapid that actually was venomous would likely suspect nothing until they were suddenly dead.
