Has anyone here had problems getting homeowner's insurance because of hot snakes?
My first reaction seems to be "why tell 'em?"
What do you think?

My insurance broker's only question was "do you have a dog?"
Unless they specifically ask you about it, or if they have a clause about animals then I wouldn't offer up that information. I didn't.
then again, if anything happens (like the basement flood I had in April) and an adjustor comes over and sees exotics (like the Siberian lynx that was running around my house at the time) they have to report that to the insurance company and raise your rates or cancel your policy.
My advice is don't ask, don't tell. If anything happens and an adjustor is coming your way, I'd try to find a way to relocate your collection. I'm not advising you to do anything dishonest or illegal (as far as I konw), but like anyone who has a huge firearms collection, just be careful who knows what's in your house!

You should ask Greg B. about that. He had to get rid of his collection, because his insurance was threatening to cancel the policy.

RE the firearms collection: Don't let it be known that you have it, and DO pay for the extra insurance just in case someone finds out and makes a move. Most homeowners' policies limit coverage on firearms, jewelry and furs, and you must purchase an endorsement to cover the full value.

Lloyds of london will insure anything! Dont tell insurance company. Then contact them if your collection means that much to you as mine does.
