Anyone have knowledge of the two venoms and which might be considered more toxic or possibly lethal?

There are no know fatalities caused by either. Bites result is extreme pain and swelling. Both are believed to have around the same amount of toxicity. This is just my general knowledge of them. You would need someone like BGF if you want specific info the the proteins and toxins involved as that is beyond me!

No, that's a fair assumption. I have read several studies on both but they vary too much for me to really be satisfied..

This was actually quoted in several books here in the UK. I believe it is also in one of Mark O Shea's books. I am no lizard expert, just trying to pitch in and help.
