I responded to a ad from a guy named Austin (vkeeper) about some white speckled rattlesnakes for sale...after days of waiting he sent me a email with a photo of a white speckled, but another photo of a normal speckled - just light in coloration. I think this is a scammer because he takes days to answer my email, has upped the price from $800 to $1000 now, has sent photos of animals other than what the ad is for and lives in Alabama where non native venomous are illegal? Any one else had contact with this sketchy person? ...and the classifieds are still down :(

People, this website is supported by ancient software, and doing things like banning IP addresses is not really supported, and, even if it was, the scammer could be back in no time, as there are plenty of programs that fake IP addresses.
As site administrators, we can ban the scammers by name, and by the email address they use.
They can be back in 10 minutes under a new name and a new email address.
If you are stupid enough to send money to someone you have never met, half way across the country, and expect them to send you some snake at a too good to be true price, then you deserve to lose your money.
You will hopefully learn a valuable lesson in that.
Want to purchase a snake, then go meet the person, and after you see the snake, then pay them.
We can remove the scammers as we find them, but, the only real solution is to shut down the free classifieds part of this website. Do you all want that ?
If a deal seems too good to be true, then, it is too good to be true ! Do not fall for photos that were stolen from some website ! If you do, you are telling the world that some fellow in Nigeria, or Cameroon, or Alabama,is far smarter than you are. The world is full of crooks, and some of them know enough about reptiles to cheat reptile keepers with their ads.
Be careful, and do not send money to folks you have never met, no matter how tempting the photos and prices they post are !
