To the OP.
I think that you and others like you confuse being new the site with being new to keeping hot herps. Many of us newbies on this site have just as much or more experience as you. Whether we are looking for help or giving experienced advice, it does not automatically give you license to trash our comments or spew out contradictory and misleading information. You sir are hostile and very uninviting to new people here and there is absolutely no need for that kind of attitude.
Dont get mad about my comments, try taking them to heart.
If you have information that can help someone, share it, dont stomp all over someone for asking. Keeping hots does not make you special or above anyone, it isn't that difficult.

Wow, I havent been on the site for a few days and I just saw this post. I think both sides of the argument have good points. On the one hand the hobby is in danger and the vets want to protect whats left. On the other hand, being a newcomer I feel the sting of the harsh replies. Its not about getting your feelings hurt though. Its about asking a serious question and being met with replies that don't answer the question and insult the person asking. Forums, emails, and texts are impersonal. It's hard to tell the tone and level of seriosness from text. Everyone interprets them differently. If the pros want to help but also drive home the seriuosness of any situation choose your words wisely and tone it down a bit. The newcomers need to do the same and like Al said come prepared. I went on a rant and I feel that Al did exactly that. It turned out to be a good conversation and I learned something. there will always be those that stray to one end of the spectrum of balance or the other.

By the way Al. I just realized my last post on the original thread was a bit ambiguous. I meant that we see how it goes when the government regulates things for us. Hornet's nest.
