Just seen this add on fauna for a East African Gaboon x a Tanzanian Puff Adder: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=440274
Wow I want this snake so bad. I really don't have room and I just bought a house so I really don't have the money or time but I am thinking that I might just do it any way. One of those F*** it I might just buy it buys.
I don't know why it made such am impression on me but its just such a good looking animal I have never seen one before.

I saw them also. I like intergrades or hybrids. However I dont know how people come up with prices for these. They are outrageously priced in my opinion. Why not buy a pair of gaboons and a pair of puffs and try to produce your own blood line. Its not easy but its not rocket science either.

I know lol. I seen some guy at Hamburg selling a gabino for $2,000.00 and a paradox monocle for $15,000.00. They are completely out of their minds. I could see $400.00 - $500.00 Anything over that is insane.

Yes I totally agree. I saw the adds and the snakes at the show also. Breed your own and sell them for a fair price. As cool as some hybrids are and as much as some of us like them. Some hate the concept. Its all preference. I would not buy a dog that was a mut. When I can adopt one and rescue it. But I would buy a pure breed from a reputable breeder if I were looking for a specific pure breed.

i have seen the advertisement also and think it is overpriced for what it is. but then again, if someone is willing to pay for it and the snake ultimately sells within a certain amount of time, i guess it wasn't so overpriced after all? i guess the market dictates itself that way.
interesting looking snake and i know these hybrids occurs in the wild, but i would not pay money for such a snake.

I get what your saying but the dog analogy is a litle flawed. All dog breeds are the result of selctive breeding. Dobermans were the result of mixing several breeds and they are one of the best breeds out there. Also, I contacted the seller and supposedly there are several people interested in the snake and he isn't even taking offers at this point. I can't believe how many people are willing to pay out for that snake. Although, aside from its lineage, it is just a really nice animal. That has to count for something.

Then again some people pays 10's of thousands for ball pythons I guess from that perspective this snake is pretty cheap.

I saw the ad as well when it was on Fauna. I would love to attempt to breed the mix myself but the $800 (I believe it was) the seller was asking I wouldn't pay. Beautiful snake though.
