I live in the St. Louis Mo area. I accidentally ran over what looked (based on size, coloration, markings, etc) like a timber rattlesnake. It was an accident. It might have already been dead, I don't know, but it was laying right in the middle of the road as I was getting onto the highway.
Do I have venom on my tires/side of my car now? Should I get my car washed? Should I avoid touching the driver door on that side of the car until I can wash it? Has anyone ever suffered any of the effects on an envenomation by exposure to large amounts of venom by running over a snake at high speeds in a heavy car?
I ran over it with the tire directly under the driver side of the car. The window was open a bit. Should I shower now or something? What precautions should I take?

Quickly proceed to your nearest Hazmat facility to be de-contaminated. Just kidding. You'll be fine. If you want to wash your vehicle, go ahead. Not sure how venom effects paint jobs, but venom needs to enter the bloodstream to cause problems in people. IF it was a venomous snake, the odds that any venom even got on your vehicle are slim to none.

Don't grind the skin off your hand on the road and then rub it under the wheel well. Other than that, I'd be more concerned about cutting myself on a piece of glass or a nail stuck in the tire while looking for venom than I would be about the venom. I've had several captive rattlesnakes strike at the screen top of an enclosure and spray me with venom. I've never gotten any directly in an eye or much in my mouth, but I can't say that I've ever noticed any sensation other than dampness. I always rinse it off reasonably soon (after taking photos a couple of times) so I don't risk idly wiping my hand in it and then wiping my eye or something.
