They're called "Carrion flies" Fruit fly eat rotting fruit not rotting flesh. Don't know about LLL's product but flies are insects with 6 legs and Mites are related to arachnids with 8 legs. Wrong product for the wrong pest.
Get un-eaten and fecal material out of the cage as soon as possible. Throw it into a Deli-cup with the side air holes taped over. Leave the lid off but nearby. Let it sit overnight (a bit stinky but works) and let them congregate in the Deli cup. Next morning quickly put the lid on, trapping the little bastards and pop the Deli cup in the freezer overnight, freezing them and their larvae. You can re-cycle the trap by flushing the contents down the toilet or in the garbage. Then clean it with soap & water. I also use "Sticky Fly Strips" that catches ones flying around.
Don't use insecticides unless it's Provent-a-mite for mites only.
