Hello all who may read this. My name is Marcel and and writing this in full disclosure.....I am 34 years old and have kept various species of reptiles (large pythons and monitors) for most of my life. I’m stating this purely to let all concerned parties that I have lots of general reptile husbandry experience. I am in no way implying that I am any kind of an expert as I know that generally sets people off the wrong way. I have signed up to this site in genuine hope of finding a sort of mentor willing to show a lover of the venomous snake the ropes and techniques required to keep elapid species. I completely understand these are not easy snakes to deal with, my goal just so happens to be to keep a collection of all the Naja Nivea color phases. Again I too know how “hot” these cobras are. I am also willing to start wherever and expert says I should.
The difficult challenges I'm facing is that I live be in New York. So I can and will have to get a permit. But everyone likes to tell you and give you advice. But nobody is willing to teach, for various reasons of which I understand. I’m willing to even pay as to make it a class so to speak. But what I’m really lookIng to do is find an elapid expert who is willing to educate.
In this hobby there are so many critics and so many keepers that give it a bad name. I want to do things the right way. But am finding it so difficult to do so. Everyone has to start somewhere. I’m hoping to find that start here.
Thanks for your time.
Marcel
