Anyone out there from Texas know what type of permit I need for our trip next week. I will be doing some collectingb but mostly looking and taking some photos. I used a regular hunting permit from Wal- Mart in Abiline but didn't know if there was anything else.

I've been trying to get info from TPWD but get no reply. Everyone has been saying they've changes all the laws again but don't post them on their website. Rosie Rogener is/was the head of operations in Austin. She has been very helpful in the past. Sorry I don't have a phone number, but she should tell you everything you need to know. Last year just about everything was collectable with a hunting license except for a few 'affected species'. For those you needed a Texas Non'game Wildlife Permit. I hear that list has changed but do not know the changes yet.

All you need in the state of Texas to field collect is a valid Texas Hunting License. California requires the Fishing license. :)
