Florida cottons are much darker, and most of the time a lot less markings. hope that helped.

Although a lot of people claim to be able to tell the difference by the dorsal markings (or lack thereof), I find the prominent "mustachios" of the Florida Cottonmouth to make identification much easier. The Florida Cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus conanti) has two prominent stripes which run from their upper lip (below the nostrils) down across the scales below their chin which look like Frito Bandito mustachios. I have yet to see an Eastern Cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus piscivorus) with these prominent markings although some of them have the marks very faintly visible.
Hope this helps,

Cool. I've been meaning to ask the same question. Plus I was starting to think I was the only one that remembered the Frito Bandito.
