Hello fellow Hot Herpers! Just wandering, only hyperthetically (I am NOT considering it, nowhere near experienced enough yet) but if one was to keep a Black Mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis) - What size enclosure would ultimately be required? What special requirements would the "King" of African Snakes need?
Thanks
Viperman, U.K

I use four feet wide by six feet tall by 36 inches deep with a tree in the middle and an outside trap box at the top of one limb when he climbs in I can shut the door from the outside and clean the cage fill the water bowl or whatever needs done without hand to hand combat with him. I have kept greens this way as well it is like cheating almost because there is no need to hook or tong the snake at all you can shut him out of the trap box to clean it so no need for contact at all. I hope this helps as far as experience goes I dont think there is anything that can prepare you to go one on one with dendroaspis polylepis but steel nuts if you get what I mean that why I build a cage that takes the danger out of it.
