Dear Sir,
I am an european (italian) writer and I work for some herp magazines. I am preparing an article about Python molurus molurus, but I cannot find enough information about the Pimbura (ceylonese) variety. In fact I'd like to know if there are differences in scalation between the pimbura form and the indian specimens (I've read that specimens from Sri Lanka have two postocular scales, while molurus molurus from India have three of them: do you confirm it?).
I've contacted some authors but I haven't received good informations, so I'd like to ask you an help. Could you give me Mark O'Shea's e-mail address, as I know he has studied Indian pythons and surely can answer to my questions?
Thanks a lot. My e-mail is studiostefanobarone@libero.it
Regards,
Stefano Barone

You could try Bob Clark too. He is breeding molurus pimbura and molurus bivittatus. Try posting this question on his forum section-in the general python discussions. I do know that the Indian Rock (P. Molurus Molurus) has a supralabial scale that makes contact with the eye, where as the Burmese Rock (P.Molurus Bivittatus) has the subocular scale separate from the subralabial scale. Try the forums at www.bobclark.com You'll find his email there too and there are alot of knowledgeable people there regarding large pythons.
