I recently aquired a 10inch tokay geko from a petr store in Athens(Greece) and I don`t know a great deal about keeping them. Who could give me some tips on proper housing, diet, substrate, temperature and humidity, sexing it, etc. Anticipated thanks.

Hi,
I'm not sure how much help I'd be, but I did use to have a Tokay when I was 9 or 10. I know that they are pretty hardy little guys. They feed well on black crickets and browns. They also will take small pinki's. I've most commonly seen them housed in ten gallon tanks, but I prefer something around a 20 gallon. I just like to give my animals lots of space.
You can sex them like most other geckos by looking at the base of the tail for two small bulges, and also, they should have spurs of their legs like leopard geckos to tail if they are males. I kept my Tokay around 75f with an 85f basking spot. The humidity was high; around 75-80%. Thats about all I know other then the fact that they come from south east Asia. Hope I helped in some way.
Cheers,
Blake

Thanks for the help. It`s the thought that counts, right? I keep my geko in a 40 X 30 X 30 cm tank. For the moment I`m using sand as a substrate. I have a heat pad under the sand and the temperature gets up to 30 celius. It also has a high humidity. I gave it crickets, but it`s not quite a voraces eater. It also ate a little sand lizard. It`s very placid and that freeks me out. I realy don`t hope it`s ill or anything. It was pretty thin and dehidrated when i bought it. I supose it`s wild caught. Thanks, Alex.
