We recently moved to Northern MS from the Midwest, and have bought a house on a small lake. We need to learn real fast about the western cotton mouth. Due to expansion across the lake there is an abundance of water snakes including the water moccasin. 2 baby cottonmouth were found in out yard; while several adult snakes (cottonmouth and other) have been spotted in the lake. We have a 2, and 9 yr old, and want to know of any precautions we can make to help keep them from coming into our yard.

theres not much you can do about snakes coming in your yard. im sure if theres another member of this website who lives in you area he would gladly relocate the snakes. if i were you i would advise your kids to stay away from any snake they see.
