Hi again. I treated the Boiruna maculata with an antiseptic and put a vendage around the wound. I found it drooling. I'de never seen a snake do this before; why did the snake that? is that a sign of a respiratory disease or something? The animal is about 2.70 mts long. Thx for the answers

Sounds like this snake needs to be looked at by a reptile vet if at all possible.
good luck,

Is it bubbling from the mouth? If so it's almost a sure sign of repiratory infection. I have seen snakes drool before though. The only time I have seen a snake drool is at feeding time, when they know they're going to be fed but have to wait for me to feed everyone else before I get to them and they're nearly springing from the cage when I get there.

Thx for your answers. I called a professor of mine, who is a herpetologist and told me that it was a respiratory infection too. Now I'm giving it shots of an antibiotic and treating the wound as well. I hope it recovers. Thx to all for your answers.
P.S. Is there a way to know if it's a male or a female without equipment?
