The tongue or the throat would be 2 of the worst places that I could think of to be bitten. And believe it or not, there are cases of both.

Veins are worse than arteries to be envenomated in. The reason is that arteries carry blood away from the heart and lungs, and veins carry it straight to the heart, then the lungs. Bad combo.

Wow, I would have thought it would have been worse to get bitten in arteries than in the veins. But I see how veins would be worst. How and the world would someone get bitten on the tongue ? I would hate to be the one to have to explain why I had a snake bite on my tongue. That would have to be the worlds worst place and the dumbest places to get bitten......Fabian

I managed it with a young tree boa once. He just looked so cute flicking his tongue at me that I started doing it back. After a few rounds he suddenly struck, tagged the tip of my tongue and retracted before I could react. It was hysterical...after a few seconds. I can just imagine if he had grabbed and constricted my tongeue. That would have taken longer to be funny I think... Of course, doing that within range of a venomous snake would have been a whole different level of stupidity.

Hey Larry,
I could understand that. Heck, even I have tongue flicked back at some non-vens. I think they were all through glass those far so no bites to my tongue but, Not a venomous bite to the tongue. Getting that close to a hot snake to your face would be Well, like you said a new level of stupidity LOL.
Any venomous bite to the face would not be good and I am sure a lot more life threatening than most any other place.........Fabian

Sorry guys but i just can't resist. How about being bitten in the nads. Just don't know how you would get yourself in that situation? Just a thought
