I have a 4' unknown sex WDB that I caught a couple weeks ago.
I have been able to feed it dead birds(I shoot them and feed the snake right away so their fresh) but it wont eat live mice.
It is housed in a 48"x16"x16" all glass encloseure(sp.) with a custom screen type lid.
Is there anything that I should do special for the snake or are they just like any other snake except the venomous part.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Daniel

Do you have a hide box in it's cage ?
I have had them not want to eat till I used a hide box. I would put the rat/ Mice in just before dark and it would come out and eat after it got dark in the room......Fabian

First, I don't know what you are shooting the birds with but if it's lead, you should be cautious because lead is poisonous and your snake could have an adverse reaction. My Crotalus ruber eats mice. I wonder why youre Atrox wont? Anyway, the most important thing about this snake is cage temperature and humidity. If your snake was caught in the desert, the temp will have to be warm. I keep mine in 85-100 degrees in the hot spot of the cage and a cool spot and hiding place of about 75. The humidity will need to be dry because these snakes are targets for fungus if the humidity is high. Night temps for your cage can be lower than what I have but don't get it too cool. Anyway, there are care sheets for these animals. Just type in a search for one. That's what I did. These are just a few items off the top of my head. I hope this helps
Regards
Clayton
