Is it true that by counting the number of rings on the rattle snake we can exactly know the age of the snake.
But, most probably rattlers shed its skin may be four to five times a year, than howcan we exactly know the age of the snakes.

Everytime a rattlesnake sheds it gains a new button.
The number of segments a rattlesnake has on its tail does not indicate the age of the specimen. This is a myth.

No, you cant tell the age from couting the rings rattlers shed 5 or more times a year so that would make you count inacurate also snake in the wild and captivity lose rattles they break them off in various way. there are many factors in determening age in a rattle snake get a feild guide and see how long that speices gets and compare now when you do that with a captive snake they will probably be a little bigger, so that is one way that you can guess a snakes age I dont think there is a for sure method of getting the exact age on a snake.
Hope this helps
