Hi, Dunno if any of you have seen a programme called Snake Busters, some dud in Oz goes around dealing with snakes in peoples houses, last night he was on that Island with all the Tiger snakes and was talking to a Bioligist who seemed to be pretty amazing, even fed a Tiger snake a Radio transmitter, very near the sharp end..Also i was wondering why do some people use different kinds of hooks, Some are U shaped, Some T Shaped, and Rob Bredl has a kinda spade shaped one...

In my opinion, there are different hooks for deferent jobs. Like a field hook to lift heavy boards, a u hook for large bodied snakes, a V-hook for small bodied snakes, short hooks are often used with elapids and in cage work. But it all kind of boils down to what the person using it feels best with. I personally like the U- hook.
Hope this helps, Randy

Me i use a midwest standard hook 40" and the best in my opinion for small snakes and cage work is the widwest mini hook i think its 24" i love it its light for fast acting snake and you can move faster with a small hook but that just my prefrence just remember its what suits you and is safe for the snake that counts

Shane, you hit the spot right on the money. The standard hook and the mini-hook are the two best hooks ever!!!! I personally hate L hooks for two reasons. The first one I had did not last long (less than a month)and the second reason is that snake can not stay on for long at all. I also love my gentle giant tongs for any heavy body snake including vipers
