Have you considered making your own production video about snakes, field herping, etc? We would really like to see a compilation of full length documentary/videos from people who frequent this site.
What we are looking for are 1 to 4 hour videos either in VHS or DVD format. If it passes our mission statement parameters and we like it, we will offer it for sale on this site; you will handle your own orders. [The SHHS will recieve nothing in return.] We will also add them to the reviews section with a link to a page where site visitors can order them -- from you.
Topics could include:
Field herping with _________
Photo Herping in Hyde County NC or Apalachicola, Costa Rica etc.
Instructional Husbandry/Vet care
My Snakebite (document yours)
Venomous Snakes of (insert any country here)
How To _____________
Handling Instruction
etc.
Since all of these will include contact w/ venomous reptiles, BE SURE to include a THOROUGH DISCLAIMER in your video.
THE CATCH: Before we will post a video for sale, Karl, Thomas and myself must review it. It should be sent to us in the packaging that you intend to sell it in. Email me at: webmaster@venomousreptiles.org to get a mailing address.
SOFTWARE:
As an example, the following video was made with Windows Moviemaker, the software that comes with Windows XP.
http://www.venomousreptiles.org/chris/snakebitten.WMV
We also recommend Ulead Video Studio version 7.0 and higher.
There are plenty of websites that will instruct you on the finer points of making a video. Just look around.
Are you game?
Chris Harper
PS: No freehandling, no venomoid surgery "how to".
