I plan on doing some herping in South Georgia and was going to also try to make it to the Venomous Expo in Daytona Beach this weekend. Is anyone else planning on going? Jason

I was planning on going, now with the hurricane pointing that way, I'm not too sure. I might end up leaving Alabama on Saturday morning. I can't get out of my hotel reservations, so might as well spend 2 nights there instead of three.
I'm worried that many of the vendors are going to back out, being the set up day is also the day the storm is supposed to be hitting Florida.

I'm a firefighter in St. Johns County (two counties north of Daytona) and I live in Flagler County (one county north of Daytona). I'm at work right now - here is the latest they are telling us -
They have my entire deprtment on a 72 hour alert. Basically, I came into work this morning at 8am and I am planning on staying until Monday morning. There was a pretty nasty tornado yesterday in Jacksonville from what was left of Tropical storm Bonnie. Charlie is begining to look like it is coming almost right at Jax or just north of it. That is the best case scenario as far as Daytona is concerned but even in that case, Daytona is going to get a big part of this storm. South Florida is being evacuated on the west coast and all of those people have to go somewhere.... We're already getting a lot of traffic up here in North Florida from the evacuees and it's not going to slow down any time soon.
Based on all of this and the projected storm path, I am *GUESSING* that a lot of people who were going to attend are probably not going ot show up. It's a damn shame too because I have been waiting an entire year for tomorrow (I missed the first venomous expo) and it's not looking good for this weekend. I really hope I'm wrong. I'll keep you guys posted if you want me to - sort of a 'man on the ground' thing.
