my friend told me yesterday that some people outside a chinese restaraunt downtown were killing a black rat snake with a broom. He walked over to them and said a few words(Guess what kind) to them. He said that he saw them over there for about 5 minutes hitting something before he walked over there and found out what it was. The people that killed it were the owners of the restaraunt. I should go by and smash there windows or something.

How would destorying property solve anything?If you feel strong enough to do vandalism why dont you try something constructive? Call animal control or the spca, tell them of the abuse that was witnessed.Go to the restraunt with a sign and stand outside and not bother customers but let people know that the owners of the restraunt are animal abuser's.Use a level head and make a piont that people can identify with.Do not do something that could get headlines like snake lover arrested for vandleism after snake was killed.Most people think we are nut's lets not confirm that for them.

Ahhh... I remember the days that I would have said or dome the same thing. Age brings wisdom and self control. Reticbite is exactly right. Although your gut reation is correct that some thing should be done the correct action to take is as reticbite offered; contact the Humane Society and or Fish & Wildlife. If they do not issue a summons or warning then you should consider a "peaceful demonstration" oudside their business with some of your friend. Set up a table with educational information ( some from the Humane Society) on how snakes are a valuable part of our urban ecosystem. You also might promote yourselves as being available as a "Reptile Rescue" group to relocate un-wanted reptiles.
Just some CONSTRUCTIVE thoughts on how to be a RESPECTED asset to your community and really help reptiles.
