I can't speak for everyone but I like all animals. I don't just keep my venomous reptiles as pets. In fact were I live(city) you cannot keep them strictly as pets, they must be used for educational and/or research purposes.
I used to work as a zookeeper(reptiles) and not all of the staff liked the same things. In fact each keeper had their own specialty but still enjoyed the venomous and non-venomous the same.
I personally love the Crotalids, but my favorite individual snake is my pet ball python, I've had for 15 years. I also keep chameleons, caimens, helodermas, exotic mammals, frogs, cats and dogs.
Reptile people are just like any other hobbyist such as sports card collectors, some like all sports some just like a few, some take is seriously some don't. Some write books on the subject and others can't read.
I use my animals for both educational reasons as well as reseach. But I know some people who don't know much about their snakes, but they still like them and breed them.
This website is not like a democratic or republican convention were it's all or nothing. It's just for people with a common interest in venomous reptiles.
I hope this helps.
