I caught two neonate copperheads and I need suggestions on feeding and housing them. I wouldnt have taken them from the wild but I found them under some boards around a collapsed house. The people that own the property said that they were going to bulldoze the house and they are known to kill snakes. I saw about 10 copperheads in that area and more neonates. I relocated some about 70 yards from the collapsed house but I figured that the neonates probably woudnt survive a relocation. I relocated the others just in case they can survive but kept two.

i dont think theres a need to explain your collection of copperheads to us. you should house the 2 in an appropriate sized container , maybe a 10 gallon, give them a hide spot, heat and water, and try pinkies or fuzzies for food, they might be more inclined to eat frogs though. my tried and true tactic for feeding c heads is to give them some time to settle in (3-4 weeks) and then they ussualy start pounding the mice down.

I totally agree. Housing them in the appropriate sized container is a key element, along with the heat, water and hide spot. My copperhead has still yet to eat, and I know he/she has had more than enough opportunity to eat...everything from frogs, fish to mice and pinkies. My male cotton however, pounds the pinkies, but wont touch adults. I too am in the same boat with coming up with food for a neo cotton and look for the same advice on feeding (Last post* Feeding a neo Florida Cottonmouth*). I believe if you take the needed steps, ie...housing, hide spot, water and various types of food, you should wind up with some healthy snakes...barring of course natural selection. Best of luck with your neos.
