Congrats!! The natural food they would eat at this size would be: Insects, small toads & frogs, and lizards. Don't discount the amount of protein in insects. I know plenty of breeders that start neonates on crickets. Try small crickets or meal worms first or even earthworms. The problems with "wild food" is the introduction of paracytes. I had the same problem with a newborn B. caudalis; it was too small for normal pinkies that you commonly get at the pet store. I bought a pregnant female and waited for her to give birth. The newborns were perfectly sized for this tiny Bitis and it readily munched it down. I froze the rest. Just some ideas...good luck.

mine took very small pinkies, at the time I was breeding about 1200 mice a month so newborn mice were not a problem.

Hey disciple dude, excuse me for not being up on some of these terms, but I'm assuming your baby "pigs" are not actually pigs(you know- farm animals) but are what, pygmy rattlesnakes?

Congrats! I always start my juvy pigs on Anoles. You should be able to find them in pet stores or outside if you live in the south.

cant find any lizards that are small enough for them, alot of skinks here, but they are all too large, i put crickets in there cage and some acted kind of interested and others acted scared, but none would eat. im thinking about cutting up some pinks and force feeding them, that doesent sound like its gonna be easy though.

Hey disciple, don't force feed them yet. It may take a while for them to start feeding since they were just born. When i was a kid, I found some kingsnake eggs and hatched them and those snakes didn't eat for about a week and a half. They all eventually ate in the end though.

No disrespect to anyone , but I have raised many, many broods of pigs and have yet to see any eat insects, but they will take lizards and pinks. They probably need to shed and then will take a pink with no problem. You might think they are to small to handle pinks but they will with little trouble.

Claytons right....don't panic...give them a week to 10 days...they will really start after the first shed.
Force feed as a last resort.
Good luck,
Al
