Hi:
This is sad all the way around. Sad for the woman, sad she did not properly take care of the animals she kept, and sad for the rest of us that keep reptiles.
Just another example of people keeping Hots that should not be...they will soon all be banned. Dealers can end this madness if they want to by not selling to in-experienced people. Dealers talk the talk but don't walk the walk.
This story say's an Urutu did her in but on the news this morning they named some other snake; according to my partner, who gets them all confused.

I read the article. It said that the hots were properly kept and that it is thought nothing dangerous escaped. If she drove her self to the hospital she probably locked down the snake that bit her before. I realy think banning all people from keeping hots isn`t the way to go. I`m lucky Romania has no laws like that. Anyway, this incident must be bad news for the herpetological commitee over there. It realy and truelly sucks. My condoleances to the animals that lost an owner.

the second article was more detailed than the one I read on CNN. It appeared the animals were healthy, yet who lets iquanas, monitors, skinks, tegus, and alligators roam free together around the house. Surely their had to be some kind of habitats and boarders? Plus nonvenoumous snakes hiding about the place. It makes it sound pretty irresponsible, but maybe it was exaggerated.

Did any notice at the bottom of the article that lists the reptiles, how the Gabby was listed as "venomous" and the Rhino was listed as "highly venomus". I really do believe that the press totally blew this story out of proportion!!!!!!!
